Accident reconstruction and traffic accident reports

Expert reports, technical statements and opinions on traffic accidents, for cases where the course of events, the liability or the amount of the damage is disputed.

When an expert report is needed

  • The parties describe the course of events differently
  • The damage does not match the collision as described
  • The traffic situation is complex, for example a collision involving several vehicles
  • People were injured or the material damage is severe
  • The case is with an insurer or another body and an existing report needs to be reviewed
  • Loss of profit caused by the vehicle being off the road has to be calculated

Plausibility check of the damage

We check whether the height, the direction and the shape of the damage match the sequence of events as described. We compare the damage patterns on both vehicles, the traces on the road surface and the final positions. From this it follows whether the collision can have happened in the way it was reported.

Forensic analysis of vehicle data

Newer vehicles store data about the accident. We read this data with Bosch CDR equipment and analyse it. The data is read with the consent of the owner or on the instruction of a competent body, and the procedure is recorded in a protocol.

Simulation and reconstruction of the sequence of events

For the reconstruction we use PC Crash, VirtualCrash and Analyzer Pro. These allow speeds, impact configuration, reaction times and avoidability to be calculated, and the sequence of events to be presented graphically, which makes the findings easier to follow in proceedings.

Our role in proceedings

We act as technical advisers and prepare expert reports, technical statements and opinions. We work with law firms, insurers and companies, and we also comment on reports already submitted by the other side.

What our report contains

  • Establishment of the facts on the basis of the documents
  • Analysis of the damage with photo documentation
  • Calculations and, where relevant, simulation results
  • A reasoned conclusion with an explanation of the methodology

What we need from you

  • Police report, European Accident Statement or traffic offence report
  • Photographs of the damage and of the accident site
  • Documents on the vehicles and on the damage
  • Existing reports and settlement calculations, if there are any
  • Information on where the vehicles are and whether an inspection is possible
  • Statements of the parties involved

Where we work on site

We carry out inspections and site visits across the whole of Vojvodina and the wider Belgrade area, as well as in Valjevo, Aranđelovac, Topola, Velika Plana, Smederevo, Požarevac and Niš with the surrounding region. We have an employed expert in Novi Sad, a colleague in Niš and a team in Belgrade.

Part of the work, such as the analysis of documents, existing reports and photographs, does not depend on location, so you can instruct us for cases outside these areas as well. The same applies to cases with an international element, where the vehicle or one of the parties comes from another country.

What determines the price of a report

The price is set case by case, because the work involved differs considerably. The following factors apply:

  • Complexity of the accident: a collision between two vehicles and a collision involving several parties are not comparable in terms of analysis.
  • Number of parties and vehicles: every additional vehicle means another set of damage, documents and calculations.
  • Whether vehicle data is available: reading and analysing CDR or EDR data is a separate step, but it considerably reduces the room for objections.
  • Extent of the simulation: it makes a difference whether only the plausibility of the damage has to be checked or a full reconstruction with speed calculation is required.
  • Type of report: a statement for internal use and a report intended for court proceedings do not require the same depth of reasoning.
  • Distance and urgency: travel outside Belgrade and priority handling mean additional work.

You receive the price before the work starts, and it does not change afterwards, unless the scope changes with your prior agreement. If the analysis turns out to be more extensive, we inform you first and wait for your confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

A court appointed expert is instructed by the court and is entered in an official register. A technical adviser is instructed by one of the parties and prepares reports and statements that serve as the technical basis in the proceedings. We work as technical advisers.

Yes. We provide opinions on reports by other experts, on settlement calculations by insurers and on reports by engineers and agencies, stating the points that do not hold up technically.

Often yes, because the data record is stored in the control unit and not in the damaged body parts. There is a risk if the control unit was replaced or the system was reset during the repair, so the data should be read early.

The data is read with the consent of the vehicle owner or on the instruction of a competent body. It is collected with certified equipment and accompanied by a protocol on the procedure, so that the report can be used in the further proceedings.

That depends on the complexity of the case and on the availability of the documents. We confirm the exact date when we agree the job, before the work starts.

The price depends on the complexity of the accident, the number of parties and vehicles, whether vehicle data is available, the extent of the simulation and the type of report. If you describe the case to us and send the documents, you receive the price before the work starts, and it does not change afterwards unless the scope changes with your agreement.

Yes. We regularly cover the whole of Vojvodina and the wider Belgrade area, as well as Valjevo, Aranđelovac, Topola, Velika Plana, Smederevo, Požarevac and Niš with the surrounding region. The analysis of documents, photographs and existing reports is carried out regardless of where the case is located.
